Conquest VAD Controller
RELIANT HEART (FORMERLY MICROMED)
A left ventricular assist device (LVAD) is the most commonly implanted VAD and is used to help the left ventricle of the heart supply blood to the aorta. The aorta is the primary artery which carries oxygenated blood from the heart to the body. When the heart can no longer pump blood through the aorta, a left ventricular assist device is implanted. The wearable Conquest controller system provides electrical power and a simple user interface to control the implanted VAD.
Origin’s prior experience in developing similar wearable systems for cardiac support devices was invaluable in planning the effort. Our team completed research, development, testing, and manufacturing documentation phases for both the hardware and softgoods for this new system.
