Intellectual Property Landscaping
The creation and management of IP has provided sustaining value to many of our clients. As the global patent landscape becomes more congested for clients we carefully examine opportunities to file new matter, avoid conflicts with “nearest neighbor” patents as shown on the left, and help complete the diligence necessary for merger, acquisition, and partnerships.
We use various semantic analysis engines with IP collections as large as 30,000 patents to find “room to innovate”. We work with clients and their patent attorneys to help extract potentially new ideas from their scientists and locate these on the maps. Once the set of “most relevant” patents is found we review the contents with clients. These maps have also been used in critical M&A activities.
Intellectual property landscaping and analysis has been conducted for J&J Divisions, Ethicon Endosurgery, Procter & Gamble, Kimberly Clark, and others.
